MICHON, Agnès

October 19, 2021 81 years old

Agnes M

1939 – 2021

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces her peaceful death at home in McKerrow with family by her side on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the age of 81 years.  Daughter of the late René and Geneviève (née Turmaine) St. Jules.  Agnès is now reunited with her beloved husband Jean.  Loving mother of René, Robert (Tracy), Marie-Jeanne, Monique Michon-Wigboldus (Andrew), Donald (Kathy), Doreen Mathie (Ray) and Doris Connors (Kerry).  She is survived by her brothers Francis (late Jeannette) (Janet), Ronald (late Marie-Rose), Marcel (Connie) and Denis (Carmen). Predeceased by her brother Raymond.  Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Agnès was better known as Mrs. Claus to the people of McKerrow and area. She lived and breathed Christmas year-round! For many years she refurbished and donated toys to the Espanola Lion’s Club Toy Drive. A proud moment for her was receiving the “key” to the town of McKerrow from Mayor Vern Gorham at an official ceremony held at the town hall. Agnès was an avid seamstress, quilter, and loved to crochet blankets which she donated to the Maison McCulloch Hospice. She was an active member of the CWL (Catholic Women’s League) at St. Jude’s Parish and of the FFCF (Fédération des femmes canadiennes-française) of Espanola. Many parish priests would be welcomed in her home to share a meal, fellowship, and heartwarming stories.

Thank you to Dr. Knox, Dr. Cano, the PSWs and nurses from Palliative Care and all the support of family and friends from near and far.  Thank you for the prayers and thank you to Fr. Gilles Grandmont for taking the time to visit mom and doing the special blessings.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 25, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Judes’s Church, Espanola (masks are mandatory), followed by interment in the family plot at the Espanola Cemetery. Donations to the Espanola Lion’s Club would be appreciated.
