Marcella Miller (nee Eigenberger)

The family announces with sorrow the death of Marcella at the age of 96. Spouse of late Jean-Paul Miller Sr., loving mother of Margaret Prince (Richard) of Fergus, Mark Miller (Carole) of North Bay, Diane Lucas (Harold) of Shelburne, Jean-Paul Miller (predeceased), and Michael Miller of Sudbury. Loving grandmother of 16, great-grandmother of 23, and great-great-grandmother of 3, with three more on the way. Dear daughter of late Marcellian and Bernadette (Neault) Eigenberger. Dear sister of Agnes Villeneuve (Aldege), Joseph Eigenberger (Joanne), and Mary Christopher (Rheal), all predeceased.

At the age of 18, Marcella was a civil servant in the Signal Corps Department of the Canadian Armed Forces where she served as a typist for two years. She was the Manager of the invoicing department at Cochrane Dunlop Hardware until she left in the 50s to rear her family. While raising her family, Marcella supported the creation of three family businesses including Miller's Ambulance Service. 

Her generosity was demonstrated throughout her life in many ways. Her steadfast spirit of volunteerism in the Catholic church and the community impacted hundreds of lives both directly and indirectly. She canvassed annually for a variety of societies, including the March of Dimes. Her work helped those with Cancer, Arthritis, heart disease, and socio-economic hardship.

Marcella was a very devout Catholic and attended daily mass well into her 80s. She was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order since 1966, having served as President of the Sainte Anne fraternity for four 3-year terms. Over the years she also served on the council as Secretary and Treasurer. Marcella was also a very proud auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary since 1946. 

A funeral service will be celebrated, Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Rd., Sudbury. An act of kindness in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
