It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of our loving mother, Peristera (Peri) Mitsopulos, in Sudbury, on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the age of 94.

Peri was the beloved wife of Meltiadis (predeceased), daughter of the late Thomas and Efthymia Simopoulos of Agia Sotira, Greece, and loving mother of Joanna and Tom.

She was also the dear sister of Aristotle (Chris) Simopoulos of Marlboro, Massachusetts, and Theodosios Simopoulos of Thessaloniki, Greece. Dear sister-in-law of Lambros (Marika, predeceased), Peter (Rita), and Eddie (Thomai) Mitsopulos of Sudbury. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Peri was born and raised in Agia Sotira, Greece. Once married, she and her husband and children lived in Switzerland before coming to Canada in 1967. Although she lived most of her life outside Greece, she returned to Greece many times over the years to visit family and friends and Agia Sotira, which she adored.

As a teenager, Peri trained as a seamstress and worked in this field in Greece and in Sudbury. She loved fashion and was elegant and stylish throughout her life. She was a beautiful woman who was also very sociable and loved people and life. She showed kindness to everyone she met and never made critical remarks about anyone.

Peri, along with her husband, was the proud co-owner of Deluxe Hamburgers on the Kingsway. She worked in the restaurant for over 25 years until she retired. She loved serving and interacting with customers.

Peri was also an accomplished homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, and creative home décor. She was talented in arts and crafts such as embroidering, crocheting, knitting, and flower arranging. She filled her home with her creations over the years. She was creative and talented and excelled in whatever she attempted.

Peri also enjoyed music and dancing, and she was a fabulous singer and dancer. She continued to sing almost daily throughout her life. She had a repertoire of songs from her youth that she would sing. We will miss her lovely voice and optimistic attitude. She will remain unforgettable to those that knew and loved her.

Peri was a long-time member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and the Greek Community of Sudbury. Over the years, she participated in many fundraising events organized by the Hellenic Ladies' Association in Sudbury.
