Predeceased in 2022 by her husband of 50 years Nels Eric Nelson. Loving mother of Tina Anderson (J.J.), and Tammy Joyce (Mike). She will also be sadly missed by her cherished grandchildren Connor (Lindsay), Keegan, Ashley (predeceased), Nolan, Cecilia, and Victor. Sally was born on February, 13th, 1934 and lived in both Toronto and Sudbury. Sally was a competitive cross-country skier and won the Canadian Cross-Country Championship in 1954 in Sudbury. Sally started off her career as a hairdresser in Toronto and fell in love with downhill skiing in Collingwood and then joined their Ski Patrol and worked with them for several years. Sally moved back to Sudbury to be closer to her parents to take care of them as they aged.

She met her husband Nels and started a wonderful family together and had two beautiful daughters. Sally was an amazing person, full of life and was always ready to help anyone. She thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors in nature, having her traditional Finnish saunas, baking her famous piirakkas and Finnish bread, being outdoors in the gardens, and picking all those good blueberries out in Wahnapitae. Sally had the most amazing Finnish Sisu.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful and caring staff, P.S.W‘s, nurses, and doctors at Health Sciences North Emergency and 5 South. Thank you to the Westmount Retirement Home for showing incredible care and kindness to Sally while she lived there for the last two years.

Sally loved to support our community by purchasing a ticket to the HSN and Hospice 50/50 draws. In lieu of flowers or donations, please purchase a ticket for HSN or the Maison McCulloch Hospice 50/50 draws in her memory. Sally wishes everyone good luck!

There will be no visitation or service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home. For messages of condolence www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
