It is with heartbreak and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beautiful Aiti and Mummu. Under the compassionate care of St. Gabriel’s Villa Nurses, PSWs and Staff, she passed peacefully shortly after Mother’s Day. Cherished Wife for over 61 years to Leonard Niemela, loving Mother of Karen Dost (Rob) and Kevin (Jill), loving Mummu to Sarah Charbonneau (Justin), Kristine Dost (Thomas), Dr. Kayley Niemela (Australia) and Amy Niemela. Great grandmother to Atlas Charbonneau. Beloved sister of Brita Juusela. Predeceased by mother Aini Tervo and brother Jorma Tervo (Connie). Dear Sister-in-law to Helen Ranta (Oiva), Alan Niemela, and Mildred (Millie) Marois (Bernie) all predeceased and Aileen Davis (Paul), Linda Black and Sharon Grenon (Bruce). She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Proud of her Finnish heritage, Aiti would bake pulla and make sualakala much to the delight of the family. She can once again enjoy her saunas, coffee and smokes, knitting the family socks and mittens, cross country skiing and riding her red bike anywhere she chooses.
