who passed away peacefully at Meadowbrook Retirement Residence, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021 in Lively.
Beloved wife of Jovan (Joe) Vakareskov (predeceased July 2019), Bill Osachuk (predeceased). Loving mother of Alicyn Osachuk and John Osachuk (Lisa Kondrat) and stepmother of Sredo Vakareskov (Heather Howe), Joe Vakareskov (Cristal Debassige), and Julie Vakareskov. Cherished grandma of James, Atlas, Cydonia, Dean, Evan, Ava, Joey, Riley, Carter, and Ethan.
Dear daughter of Cyril and Mae Higgs (both predeceased). Treasured sister of Valerie McMahon (Mike), Ray Higgs (Anne Marie), Barbara Higgs (predeceased), Ken Higgs, Heather Higgs, Deborah Somek, Cheryl Higgs, and Laura “Lolly” Higgs. Will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Linda was an amazing lady whose kind and gentle nature touched the lives of many people. Linda took on the challenge of returning to school in her early 50s and trained in gerontology social work at Cambrian College. Her patience and creativity blessed the lives of clients during her career with the Alzheimer Society. As a member of the Board of Directors for the YWCA, Linda shared her passion for seeing women improve their lives. Over the years, she enjoyed many hobbies including camping, gardening, walking, drawing, painting, and relaxing in her back yard with family and friends. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family. Her years with Joe brought her much happiness and they shared many specials times together.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Sudbury Hospice Foundation (Maison McCulloch Hospice).
A Private Family service will be held with a Celebration of Life at a later date. Current COVID-19 Pandemic Directives will be followed, and face masks are required.
Interment in the family plot at the Civic Memorial Cemetery.
