PALMER, Edwin Roy - In loving memory of Edwin Roy Palmer 96 years who passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010 at SRH Laurentian. Born in Sudbury and lived here all his life. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a World War II veteran serving with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion and served overseas with the British 6th Airborne Division. Eddie was an all around athlete. In his younger years he played hockey, was a marathon runner, was a Light Weight boxing champion in Sudbury. He loved to ski, played golf and in his later years loved curling. He was a member of the 25 year club at Falconbridge. Beloved husband of Charlotte (McMitchell). Loving father of Peggy Martin (husband Richard and John McKenzie both predeceased), Douglas (wife Carmen), Alec (wife Zhenru). Cherished grandfather of Sharilyn (Brian), Kimberly (David), Melanie (Guy), Steven (Chantal), David (Fadia), James, Jared (Melissa), great grandfather of Trevor, Andrea, Jenna, Thomas, Ethan, Tristan, Austin and Hilary. Dear brother of Stan (predeceased) and loving son of Fred and Ellen Palmer both predeceased. Funeral service will be held at the R. J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 10 am. Interment at Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. (friends may call after 9:30 am on Saturday).
