Leo (Slim) Paulin passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023, at Villa Scalabrini Retirement Center, Sun Valley, California, at the age of 92. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years,Anita Stella (Baroni).
Leo was born in Temiscaming, Quebec, Canada, on May 4, 1931, to Joseph Édouard and Victoria Josephite (Desjardins). He is predeceased by sisters Pauline (William Fortin) and Jeannette (Kenneth Larocque) and by brothers Maurice (Jackie), Édouard/Duds (Jeannette) and Reginald (Carmen). He is also predeceased by sisters-in-law Rita Newman (Fred), Eileen Cappadocia (Dominic), Mary Malone, Eva Townsend (Jim) and by brothers-in-law Louis Barone (Agnes), Cecil Baroni (Terry), Fred Baroni, and Jim Baroni.
He will be greatly missed by Debi Jaramillo, dear family friend and care giver, and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews in the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands.
A special thanks to Debi for her love, kindness, and generosity of heart and to Villa Scalabrini for the care and comfort provided to Leo during his time as a resident.
Our family is grateful to know that Leo (Slim) is at peace. He was a man of strong faith. Please remember him in your prayers. Donations to your local Alzheimer Association/Society or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
Visitation will be at the San Fernando Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary, Mission Hills, California, on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Villa Scalabrini on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 10 a.m., followed by interment at the the San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
