It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Mummu and Iso Mummu.
Sirkka was born on January 27, 1944 in Sievi, Finland and she passed away on January 26, 2021. She was an active member and volunteer with the Finnish congregation of New Hope Lutheran Church. She was a wonderful baker and made the very best pulla. She loved her family with all her heart and she will be missed so much by her family and friends here in Canada as well as Finland.
Beloved wife of Veikko Porkola (pre-deceased) and loving mother of Tuula (John), Marja (Darwin), Mike (Julie) and Mark. Mummu to Eric (Erika), Matti (Shawn), Kyle, Melina (Randy) and Amanda (Steve). Very special Iso Mummu to Lucas and Tenley. She is also survived by her sisters, Sanni (Voitto), Maija (Markku), Kaija and her brother Ahti (Tuula) all of Finland. Special GodMother to Mari (JG) of Alberta. She will be missed by her cousins, nieces and nephews who she held very close to her heart.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lam, Dr. Jani and the nurses & staff of both the Northeast Cancer Centre and the 4th Floor at HSN. Due to Covid restrictions there will be no service at this time. A celebration of life and mass will be arranged once it is safe to gather again. Donations to New Hope Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice is appreciated.
