Prosperi, Yolande “Yollie” (nee Signorotti), March 9th, 1923 – May 1st, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Yolande “Yollie” Prosperi, on May 1st, 2021 at Health Sciences North, at the age of 98. Known to all as Yollie or Nonni Yollie, her door was always open. A warm, loving smile greeted everyone, and the offer of lunch or coffee and homemade baking was never far behind. She was an amazing cook and was always ready to feed anyone who walked through her door. She loved when people dropped in for a visit, and was most happy when her kitchen was full of family and friends. If you came as a friend, you left as family. Her shining spirit touched everyone who met her. Her love for life was palpable. She was always ready for the next adventure, road trip, or visit from a friend. Those who met her for the first time were treated as though they had been family for a lifetime. Her generosity and hospitality were unrivaled.

Beloved wife of Joseph Prosperi (predeceased 1994). Loving mother of Bill (Marie), Bob (predeceased)(Gale), and JoAnn (Peter Furino). Daughter of Amadeo and Albina Signorotti both predeceased. Dear sister of Tina Tenace, Carlo Signorotti, Guido Signorotti, and Lena Gliebe, all predeceased. Sister in law to Ida Cecchetto and Mary Cecchetto (both predeceased) and Rita Signorotti in Windsor. Cherished Nonni to Joey, Paul, Anthony, John, Carissa, Kristin, and Matthew, and loving Bisnonni to her 12 great-grandchildren. Sadly missed by many special nieces and nephews.

Although she is no longer with us, her legacy and her generous spirit live on in our memories of the great times we shared with her and the many laughs that were had. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.” – Irish Proverb.

The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at the Assisted Living residence at Finlandia Village, especially Frenie, and the 6th floor South Tower HSN staff, especially Rob, for all their excellent care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to Finlandia Village SISU Foundation or the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated.

A private family memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Rd., Sudbury, on Friday, August 20, 2021 with entombment of the cremains at the family Mausoleum at the Sudbury Catholic Cemetery, and a celebration of life to follow.
