PYZIK, Olena - In loving memory of Olena Pyzik. The spirit of our family has dimmed as we bid farewell to our beloved Olena Pyzik (nee Slusarczyk), 52. Loving wife of Andri Pyzik and caring mother of Oksana and Nadiyka Pyzik, special aunt to Ania Dziunycz, husband Patrick Campeau of Sudbury, Ola Dziunycz, husband Alex Chen of Ottawa, daughter of Sofija Slusarczyk and the late Mikhailo Slusarczyk, daughter-in-law of Anna Pyzik, sister of Joseph Slusarczyk, wife Genevieve of Waterloo, Maria Slusarczyk of Kitchener, Luba Dudka, husband Eugene of Waterloo, the sister-in- law of Kazik Pyzik of Slupsk and the late Irene Dziunycz of Koszalin. Beloved aunt of Kathy DeBlois, husband Andrew of Niagara Falls, Sophia Slusarczyk of Kitchener, Daria Klages, husband Kevin of Cambridge, Paul Slusarczyk of Cambridge, Sonia Slusarczyk of Waterloo, Natalia Markewycz, husband Peter of Mississauga, Marko Dudka of Mississauga and great-aunt to Jackie, Ben, Mila, Natalia and Isabella. She has also left behind many loving friends. Olena Pyzik was born in Slupsk on April 13th, 1957. Seeking the freedom to embrace her Ukrainian identity, she immigrated to Canada with her husband in 1984 where she gave birth to her two beautiful daughters - Oksana and Nadiyka. With a selfless, mother's heart, she also welcomed her nieces Ania and Ola as an extension to her family and home. Olena worked in the Ukrainian Seniors' Centre in Sudbury with great dedication, closely bonding with the Ukrainian community and enthusiastically working towards its growth in Sudbury. Her love for reading and learning came naturally from her early years as a teacher, and always echoed in her words, her home and her surroundings. As a devoted mother, she nurtured this love within her children. Her joy was the sound of her children's laughter, and her home was always filled with warmth, tradition and music. She captured the essence of life and its beauty through her love of photography. Olena's vibrant and patriotic spirit enlivened many of the customs that have defined our family, as she often hosted family celebrations that have united us and preserved our Ukrainian heritage. Olena will be missed immensely and her spirit will live in the traditions that we will continue in her honour. Resting at the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury.
