QUENNEVILLE, Roméo

September 18, 2021 87 years old

Romeo (1)

Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Roméo, born on August 29th, 1934, who passed away on Saturday, September 18th, 2021, at the age of 87. Living in his Minnow Lake home since 1972, Roméo was an inspirational community pillar and fundamentally raised the neighbourhood children and was well known for Quenneville Corner from 1967-1989 which housed the local arcade (amongst other things) where Roméo was influential in teaching the neighbourhood teens respect and keeping them in line. Roméo was a fair and stubborn man, but as a crossing guard he was known for supplying mittens to children who had none, without wanting any due credit. His community spirit was admirable and was also known as the “Mayor of Downtown Minnow Lake.”

Roméo’s true love was his wife Solange (Sally) who together had a 61-year love affair that will continue until they are reunited. Through the many years of yard sales, gardening, music listening and large family gatherings, their biggest adventure was raising four boys together.

Roméo is survived by wife Sally, children Michel (Maxine), Rhéal, Denis (Ann), Richard (Raquel). Grandchildren Andrew, Justin, Tchad, Shawn, Jessica, Melissa, Crystal, Austin, Emily along with six great grandchildren. Also survived by his sister Rose-Marie and many nieces and nephews. Romeo had a special bond with niece Marissa and nephew Don (predeceased 2021).

Predeceased by parents Henri and Couranna, siblings Lébéa, Cécile, Alcide, Lionel, Aurèle, Aldoria, Laurette, Rita, Conrad, Jean-Marie and Euclide.

The family would like to thank all staff on the 5th floor at Health Sciences North who was involved in his care for their compassion and empathy. In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation or service. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in the Sudbury Civic Cemetery
