The family announces with sorrow his death on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario, surrounded by his five children and sister Jeanette. Son of the late Horace Ransom and the late Lucienne (Lucy) Ransom (née Charette). He is predeceased by his loving wife Shirley Ransom (née Landriault). Doug is survived by his dedicated children, Doug Ransom. Jr., Donna Ransom (Allan), Cheryl Lagace (Wayne), Lana Thompson (Brett) and Kyla Cottam (Kevin). He will be sadly missed by his loving grandchildren, Shandi, Shane, Brandon, Scott, Cole, Alli, Paige, Kaitlyn, and Ayla. He will also be missed by his sweet great grandchildren Austin, Jasper and Lachlan. He is survived by his siblings Ken (Sylvia), Jeannette (Roger Laurin), Richard (Susan), Harvey (Doreen), Darlene (Dennis Wilson), Suzanne (Jake Beaudry), Brian (Linda) and Tina (Prata). Predeceased by his sisters Lorraine and Jackie. Doug will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Doug/Dad/Uncle/Grandpa/Great Grandpa was a loving caring man who would drive any of his five teenage children, friends in tow, wherever they needed to be. He was a man who liked to help people whenever he could and will be greatly missed by so many. His career was with INCO, and we remember how difficult that was during many strikes. Providing for his wife and five children had their challenges during those difficult times, however his family always came first. He took us on many memorable family vacations that we will always cherish.
As per Doug’s wishes, the family will have a bonfire in his honour to celebrate his life. We love you and miss you already dad. Services entrusted to Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
