Oct. 11, 1952 - Nov. 26, 2024

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce Gilles’ passing at Health Sciences North on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024, at the age of 72 years, surrounded by his family and closest friends.

Throughout Gilles’ journey navigating the roller-coaster of his illness, Gilles exemplified bravery and joy, inspiring all who knew him. He will forever be a bright, guiding light to his family, embodying unconditional love, strength, and generosity.

Cherished husband of 24 years and soulmate to Alice (nee Boyle). Gilles will also be dearly missed by his little bud, Macey. Loving dad to Christopher (Brigitte) and Kimberly Raymond and a proud grand-papa to Andre, Dominique, Hayden and Callie. Dear brother to Robert (Nuch), Maria Chambers (predeceased Doug), Giselle (Kevin) and Michael. Gilles is predeceased by his parents, Phil and Doris Raymond.  Beloved brother-in-law to Charlie Boyle (Angela), Richard Boyle (Lyse) and Tom Boyle. Gilles will be missed by many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

From an early age Gilles loved the outdoors, and he found peace enjoying the beauty of nature. He was passionate about many things. His family, his friends, his love for camping, fishing and hunting. Gilles worked at Falconbridge Nickel Mines as a surveyor for 30 years until he retired in 2002 and enjoyed many years of pension.

We would like to thank our family, extended family and dearest friends for all their unconditional love and support. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Joel and staff from mobility2home, Kyla, our occupational therapist that help guide us through each step of this journey. A special thanks to the personal support workers, Josie from Canadian Shield and Sudbury Home and Community Care. We would like to extend our appreciation to the medical staff and doctors at HSN South Tower - 6th floor. Your dedication and passion for care will never be forgotten. Thank you for taking care of our loved one!

In keeping with Gilles’ wishes there will be no visitation or service. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Love you forever and always.

Donations can be made to Pet Save in Sudbury in Gilles’ memory.
