It is with great sadness the family of David Rudd, 74 announce his passing, on January 27, 2022 with loved ones at his side.

Born in Ambleside, UK on September 27, 1947, he immigrated with his parents and brothers to Canada in the mid 50’s spending his youth in Angus, Ontario, before moving to Kirkland Lake and ultimately landing in Sudbury for the last 3 years with is wife, Judy.

David had an enjoyment for life that could hardly be matched. He lived his life on his terms, enjoying every moment he could, surrounded by family and friends. He would challenge the grandchildren to road hockey games, have meaningful conversations and debates, and entertain them with stories and his quick wit. He had a life long passion for The Beatles, loved his annual vacation in Las Vegas, never missed The Young and The Restless, and was a long suffering Leafs fan.

David was the middle son of the late Margaret (Peg) and Rainsforth (Ron) Rudd, and was predeceased by his best friend and the love of his life, Judy (nee Lalonde), and his cherished brothers Normand and Robert. Loving father to Julian Rudd (Jen), and Step-father to Robert Leveque (Karen), Holly Sullivan (Stephen), Donald Levesque (Stacey), Carrie Thompson (Eugene Ivanov). Left to mourn are his , 13 grandchildren, Ashton, Taylor, Kyle, Adam (Olivia), Jordan, Tyler, Taigen, Taylor, Kennedy, Logan, Chenessa (Mike), Cheneka, Donald (Amber) and 7 great-grandchildren, Autumn, Eden, Everly, Aiden, Jacob, Kohen, Miyah. Sadly, missed by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Marion, Diane, Heather (Al), Charles, Jim and Torey. His loss will be felt by his niece Marianne (David), nephew Colin and extended family and friends. Dave worked with Hydro One for 47 years, his loss will be felt by many of his coworkers.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses, doctors and medical staff in the ICU department of HSN for their genuine care for Dave since October.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for the spring of 2022, in Sudbury. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Diabetic, Heart and Stroke, or Cancer foundations, each of which had impacted his life. In memory of David, live each day as if it’s your last.
