Loving Mother of Mario (Ivana Perri) and Adriano (Susan Barberio).  Loving and adored Nonna to Claudia (Owen McCardle), Paolo (Krystal Hornsey), Tania (Jimmy Bartolucci), Giulia (Justin Ellsworth), Christopher (Kassidy Kennedy).Bisnonna to Jacob and Max Bartolucci, Marina and Regina Simonato, Romi Simonato, together with Louis and Henry McCardle).  Sadly missed by her family and many, many good friends.

Born in Cinto Caomaggiore, Veneto on April 4, 1923, to Benedetto Celant and Anna-Maria Nosella.  Dear sister to: Vittorio (Pre-deceased), Benetto (Pre-deceased), Lino (Pre-deceased), Bepi (Pre-deceased), Marcellina (Pre-deceased), Effa (Pre-deceased), and Mariucci.

Noemi’s journey was one of love, resilience, and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished forever. Born in Italy, Noemi bravely followed her beloved husband, Narciso, to Canada in 1952, sailing across the Atlantic on the ship Homeland. Together, they embraced the challenges of starting a new life, building a home in Sudbury, and raising a family filled with love and laughter. After welcoming their first two sons, they returned to Friuli in 1958 on the ship Cristoforo Colombo, their family’s bond deepening with each mile of their nine-day voyage. In 1960, they returned to Canada, their family complete with two young boys, settling back in Sudbury where they would spend the rest of their lives.

Noemi worked tirelessly to help support her family, holding positions at the General Hospital as a cleaner and at the Cecutti Bakery coffee shop for many years. Despite the demands of work, Noemi’s true passions were found at home, where her talents shone brightly. She was an extraordinary seamstress, crafting most of her children's clothing with love and precision, and a gifted knitter, creating masterpieces with every stitch. Her hands were equally skilled in the kitchen, where she became famous for her gnocchi, risotto, and an array of pasta dishes, as well as her legendary mashed potatoes. Noemi’s desserts were the sweet highlights of every gathering, from her Rice Krispie squares to her blueberry pies and world-famous tiramisu, and apple strudel.  Her cookie tin was always full, as was her candy dish, a testament to her generous spirit.

Noemi found peace and happiness in the simple joys of life. She loved tending to her garden, especially her beloved flowers, and relished in trips to the French River Trading Post for ice cream. Sunday Mass was a cherished time for her, as was her Saturday afternoon ritual, enjoying a relaxing bath while listening to her favorite Italian opera music, knowing her husband was with his friends at the Caruso Club.

Noemi was a woman of honesty, integrity, and unshakable devotion. She adored visiting with family and friends, both near and far, always maintaining a strong connection with her roots in Italy. Sitting on her porch, knitting, and watching over her neighborhood, Noemi took pleasure in the quiet beauty of her surroundings. Her greatest joy, however, came from her family. She was deeply devoted to her grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure, and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with them.

With Noemi, what you saw was what you got.  She was genuine, kind, and unwavering in her commitment to those she loved. Her legacy is one of love, faith, and strength, a legacy that will endure in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
