Sobol, Hector

June 23, 2009 84

SOBOL, Hector Wilfred - In loving memory of Hector Wilfred Sobol, 84 years, who went to a better place on June 22nd, 2009. Beloved husband for 62 years to Simone (Marion) Sobol of Sudbury. Loving father of Randy Sobol (friend Diane) and Marilyn Knoll (Ken) both of Sudbury. Granddad to Kathleen Popowich (Trevor) of Chelmsford, Alison Sobol of Calgary, Landa Koski (Doug) and Karly Cook (Darryl) of Sudbury. Great granddad of T. Jay, Logan, Annikka and Avery. A long time resident of Onaping, Hector retired from Falconbridge Ltd., as property superintendent. His passions included desserts (of every kind), gardening, woodworking and wintering in Florida for more than 25 years but most importantly, his family. He was famous for his “pep talks“ that he gave to all of us to help us be the best people we could be. He was small in stature but strong in spirit. He was so very proud of his children and grandchildren, all of whom graduated from Laurentian University. Education was very important to him as he did not have the opportunity himself, and he strongly encouraged his family to continue higher learning. Also survived by siblings Ken and Joyce Sobol, Linda and Allen McMahon, Aldine and Sonny McMahon. Brother-in-law of Connie Abraham. Predeceased by Rita and Frank Vant. A sincere thank you to the staff at Finlandia Nursing Home, Susan and Colette from For Seniors Only, as well as the nurses at Laurentian Hospital for their care. A Memorial Service will be held in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury Friday June 26th, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hector Sobol Memorial Bursary Fund, Laurentian University. (Friends may call after 11:15 a.m. Friday).
