In loving memory of Ronald “Ronnie” Walter Sturby who passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Health Sciences North at the age of 64. Beloved son of Doris and Walter Sturby, both predeceased. Adored brother of Angie and Michael Dowling. Special uncle to Sean Dowling, predeceased (Jennie Gauthier), Steph Speck (Dwight) and Shannon Dowling (Guy) and great uncle to Sammy. Cherished grandson of Maria and Yakiw Zaparyniuk both predeceased. Ronnie went to Adamsdale Public School, Churchill Public School, and Lasalle Secondary School, and spent four years at Cambrian College obtaining four diplomas in English and Computers. He enjoyed playing on the computer, card games, emailing and every Friday he wrote a story about what was going on in the city or the world and how he felt that day. Ron always listened to the news. He could tell you what was going on in the world and enjoyed weather forecasts. He loved old movies especially those with animals, music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s and old television shows including I Love Lucy and the Lawrence Welk Show. Every Sunday morning, he watched the Hour of Power. The family expresses their appreciation to the amazing staff at Pioneer Manor with special thanks to Stacey and Bonnie along with Ron’s two adopted moms, Ina and Mary. They would also like to thank the hospital staff in the Emergency Department and on 6th Floor South for their compassionate care and support.
A funeral service will be held in the R. J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11 a.m. Interment in the family plot at Park Lawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Due to COVID-19 directives, there will a maximum of a 100 people in the chapel. Face masks are mandatory.
