The last piece of Halibut has been cut, fried, wrapped in newspaper, and served. Time to turn the lights off and rest.
Frank passed away in Sudbury, Ontario on November 30, 2020.
Born in Tilburg Holland, he immigrated to Canada in April of 1952. He married Catharina (Rinie) Hannenberg in 1960 and together they had one son. Frank travelled around the world, loved to sail, played piano, owned, and operated 2 seafood restaurants and a fish & chip wagon in Barrie, ON. He spent most of his retirement between his homes in Innisfil Beach, ON and Florida. His last few years were spent in Sudbury, ON at Extendicare Falconbridge Retirement Home.
He leaves behind to remember him, his partner Muriel Vogel of Florida, his Son Frank (Alexis) 3 grandchildren, Jason (Karla), Ashlea (Davin), and Danielle (Scott), 4 great grandsons, Michael, Connor, Eli, and Lincoln. His sisters Jacqueline Burgering, Mieke Struycken, Jose’ Ghering and two sister in-laws, Han Teklenburg and Anke Teklenburg, as well as many family members in Holland, Canada, and other parts of the world. He also has numerous friends and acquaintances met over a lifetime well lived.
As Frank’s son, I wanted to say, a sincere thank you to Marion Quigley, his niece, who has been a constant in his world for the past few years in Sudbury. Her time and caring have made a great difference to his wellbeing.
A special thank you to the staff at Extendicare. They have made his time there enjoyable and his last few days comfortable and for that I am grateful.
Frank will be cremated, and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd. Online condolences can be posted at www.RangersSudbury.com.
