It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Joyce Lynn Trainor (Bunting) in Sudbury on Thursday, June 6th 2024 at the age of 77. Beloved wife of Melvin Trainor (predeceased December 5, 2017), and loving mother to Kelly Fitzgerald (Kevin), Debbie Sedore (Len), Jody Turcotte (Jamie), and Ashley Trainor. Cherished grandma to Kourtney (Mike), Jordyn (Scott), Karleigh, Riley (Mel), Paityn (Dennis), Presley (Ben), Marley, Sidney (Kam), Kieran and Liam; and special great grandma to Jax, Kylo and Nash. Dear sister to Bill Bunting (Fran) and Bonnie Mackenzie (Roy).
Joyce was born and raised in Toronto and moved to the small northern town of Hilton Beach on St. Joseph’s Island in her preteen years. She shared many funny stories of her life in a small town as a rebellious young girl before meeting the love of her life, Mel. They began their journey together in St. Joe’s before planting seeds in Sault Ste. Marie, making close friends with their neighbours and community. Together, they moved their family across Canada to BC for a year where Joyce enjoyed the beauty of the province but grew homesick for Northern Ontario. Upon arriving in Sudbury to be closer to extended family, she enjoyed more than 30 years at Woolco and Walmart where she forged lifelong friendships and was always there with a smile and kind ear. Her life was full of grandkids’ dance recitals and hockey games.
When Mel passed in 2017, Joyce moved into the Temelini building and was quick to make new friends. Card games and social time filled her days. Joyce’s children, sons-in-law, and grand/great grandchildren were her world; she was so very proud of all of them and often expressed how her and Mel had a blessed life. She remained feisty and sweet up until her last days and will be forever missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. As per her wishes, there will be no service.
Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Homes.
