In loving memory of Antero Vihtori Tuhkasaari, 79 years, who peacefully passed away, Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020 at York Extendicare after a short illness. Loving father of Sari (Kevin). Cherished Pappa of Tim and Kolby. Predeceased by his wife Pirkko, and parents Vaino and Saima. Survived by sister Helena (Manu predeceased), brother Viljo (Edith) and numerous nieces and nephews. Antero was born in Kortesjarvi Finland on May 29, 1941. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 and went to work in mines and construction. Antero settled in Sudbury, married Pirkko in 1971 and started a family. Antero loved spending his spare time at his camp at Red Deer Lake year-round. Gardening, hunting and fishing were his favourite pastimes. In recent years Antero looked forward to his morning coffee meetings with friends at Leinala’s Bakery. Antero was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church (St. Matthew’s). He enjoyed his bowling group which gathered weekly during the winter months and weekly devotions at Hannah Lake during the summer. Antero (Andy) will be greatly missed. Interment in the Civic Cemetery. Due to Covid a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
