VAKKURI, Antti - In loving memory of Antti Vakkuri, 83 years, who passed away Saturday, August 15th, 2009 at the SRH, St. Joseph's Health Centre. He was born in Finland. Antti was a retired miner. A man of faith he had been an active member of St. Matthew's Finnish Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir. Antti had a passion for music and he had been a member of the Finnish Male Choir. He was proud of his Finnish heritage having served in the Finnish Navy during World War II and he was a member of the Finnish War Veterans Association. He enjoyed travelling and spending his winters in Florida. Antti can echo the words of St. Paul “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.“ Beloved husband of Elma (Myllymaki) Vakkuri of Sudbury. Loving father of Aila (husband Keith Bradley) of Calgary and John of Sudbury. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Thursday, August 20th, 2009 at 11:30am. Interment in the Civic Cemetery.
