VALENT, Gilbert (Geza) - In loving memory of Gilbert (Geza) Valent, 89 years, who passed away at home on Tuesday evening August 11th, 2009. Beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Ross) Valent predeceased August 1st, 2009. Loving father of Cathy Hoffmann (husband Robert) of Blind River and Christine Bellefeuille (husband Rene) of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Rob, Steven and Victoria Rose who lived with her grandparents as their caregiver. Predeceased by his parents Balint and Margaret (Cako) Valent. Dear brother of Margaret McCarthy and Ilona Kosztur both predeceased. Survived by his nieces Debbie Campbell (Robert) of Oshawa and Laurie Hoeper (Robert) of Red Deer, Alberta. He will be sadly missed by many other relatives and friends. Born on July 23, 1920 in Hungary, Gilbert came to Canada in 1929 and farmed in Saskatchewan until moving to Sudbury to work for Falconbridge until retirement. He was an active member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was an outdoor person who loved life, hunting, fishing, gardening, riding his motorcycle and feeding his feathered friends that he visited downtown daily. Gilbert was much loved and was proud to be his family's provider. Memorial Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1050 Lonsdale Avenue, Sudbury on Friday August 14, 2009 at 1 pm. Interment at Maplecrest Cemetery, Dowling.
