In loving memory of Ruby Lillian Veerdonk, 94 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5th, 2020, at Health Sciences North. Beloved wife of 61 years to the late Willhelmus Veerdonk (predeceased November 20th, 2017). Loved and cherished mother of Lynn Kusan. Predeceased by her daughter Brenda Veerdonk (1964) at the age of 6 years and by her son Martin Veerdonk (1979) at the age of 22 years. Fondly remembered by her grandson Michael Kusan. Ruby was born in Hamilton and following her schooling, she worked for 10 years as an executive assistant at a large company there. After marrying Bill, they moved to Kirkland Lake and then to Sudbury where they made their home and started the business of Veerdonk Chemicals. Ruby was a partner and worked at the business for over 43 years. Both Bill and Ruby enjoyed the arts and for many many years, they took great pleasure in attending the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra as well as the Sudbury Theatre Centre perfomances. Ruby was a caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a very warm-hearted person and offered her friendship to everyone she knew. She practiced God’s wishes — “Be kind to one another”. The family would like to thank Dr. Nizzero and the staff of Health Sciences North and the Lougheed family and Staff for all their care and support.
A private family service was held at Lougheed Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 10th. Ruby was then laid to rest at the family plot at Park Lawn Cemetery alongside her late husband and children. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
