Wrigley, Violet 'Vi'

With great sadness, we share the news that Violet “Vi” Wrigley of Sudbury, ON has passed away at the age of 88. Living at the Elizabeth Centre in Val Caron for the last several years, she declined into dementia and left this world on September 13th,2022.

Vi met and married her husband Walter (predeceased) in 1951. They spent some years in Halifax before settling back in Sudbury to raise their family. Vi was a proud working woman and became a supervisor at the local K-Mart. Known as tough but fair, she donned a uniform that included a perfectly coiffed wig and red lipstick, leaving the mark of her kiss on the cheek of those she loved. Outside of work, she enjoyed camping and gardening in the summer, and John Wayne movies and Harlequin romances through the winter. She will be remembered by her 4 children, Donna Currie (Norm), Karen Scott (Gordon Smith), Wayne (Galeana) Wrigley, and David Wrigley (Melody McAlpine) ; 10 grandchildren, Tricia , Ryan , Andrea , Matthew, Tamara, Ian, Jon, Lori, Devin, and Candace; 18 great grandchildren, as well as her remaining living siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

We would like to extend our thanks and deep appreciation to all members of the Elizabeth Centre, especially those who cared and supported her with her daily needs and shared stories of their love of her and her antics when we visited. The family will share time together, but there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. Donations can be made directly to the Alzheimer’s Society. Donate | Alzheimer Society of Canada.
