August 22,1926 – October 21, 2022
In August of 1926, Mary Konowalchuk, was born into a Ukrainian family outside of the small town of Ethelbert, in Northern Manitoba.
She was one of 6 children: Metro, Mike, William (Bill) Anne and Steve, all predeceased. Mary’s father Dan, and mother Martha were hard working farmers who always gave much love to their family.
Mary was a talented seamstress, as well as enjoying creating beautiful, needled point work, crocheting and knitting. Mary was also an amazing cook. Through the years Mary worked at the Lucky Dollar in Whitefish, delivered mail and was a School Bus Driver for 26 years.
Strong, Loving and kind are the words that come to mind when we think of Mary and her beautiful smile.
Strong - proven in succeeding in everything she tried.
Loving - as a wife, mother, and friend.
Kind - to all she met.
Mary will be missed by her family and friends, without a doubt, and will always be in the hearts of her daughter Marian, son-in-law Cliff Dandy and fur baby Zoe who was very special to her as well.
A special Thank You to Dr. Clendenning and staff, as well as the Ican Team for all their compassion and care through the years. She thought so highly of all of you. Thank you also to Nurse Carly at the HSN 6th floor South, for the compassionate care she gave Mary in her last hours. Thank you to all her neighbours and friends at the Cedarbrook apartments, you have all been so kind to her through the years. To Brenda and Rob O. a special thank you for all your love and support to both Mary and Orin through the years.
She will never be truly gone as her smile and laughter will be with us always. May the angels guide you home and may you find Peace. You are finally back with your kindred spirit and the love of your life Orin, who passed on October 20, 2006.
A private service will be held at this time, with a Celebration of Life a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the CNIB, Canadian Lung Association, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lougheed
