Beloved wife and best friend of the late Michael Yawney, our cherished Mother and Baba has passed away at the wonderful age of 97 surrounded by love, prayer and song.  Memories of her life lessons – her cooking, gardening, her work ethic and her deep faith - will live on in her 15 children, 30 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.  Over the years, Mom’s door was always open with a warm bowl of borscht and rye bread in traditional Ukrainian hospitality.  We were blessed to have had her with us for so long and she will always live on in our hearts.

Fondly remembered as the Queen Mum of Steve (Theresa), Marie (Richard Dobson), Helen (George 2016), Michael Jr. (Roma), Sam (Karen), Nolina, Kathy (Frank Scott), Margaret, Sharon (Basil Somers), Polly (Brian Kameka), Rachel (Joe Morris), Ruta (Robert Semeniuk), Tim (Mary Colleen); predeceased by her sons David (Pat) and John (Faye).

Cherished grandmother (Baba) of Lisa, Peter, Debbie, George Jr., Shelley, Jowan, Joan, Patrick, Charles, Allison, Tanya, Sarah, Joseph, Thomas, Meagan, Nicholas, John Jr., James, Matthew, David, Raya, Jessica, Dana, Ben, Shawna, Micaela, Talia, Jenna, Samantha; predeceased by her beautiful granddaughter Zanna.

Blessed great grandmother to Brady, Braden, Liam, Gracen, Hayden, Taylor, Jacob, Zachary, Hana, Emily, Camryn, Lars, Isaiah, Ethan, Jagger, Tobias, Jacob, Asher, Leena, Isabel, Stevie, Caden, Rivan, Clara, Ava, Everly, Melanie, Graffin, Silas, Gabriella, Forrest, Owen and Klara.

Loving daughter of Nick and Mary (nee Pankewich) Puhach both predeceased. Dear sister of Kay and George and the late Mike, Mary, Ann, Henry, Emil, Al, Nick and Nettie. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ukrainian Seniors Centre or St Mary’s Ukrainian Church are welcomed.

Resting at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury where friends may gather from 6-8pm Thursday. Panakhyda will be held at 7pm. Funeral mass in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 48 Notre Dame Ave., Sudbury on Friday, November 27th, 2020 at 10:30am. Interment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 directives, masks are mandatory. For those who cannot attend the mass, it will be streamed live on the St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church Facebook page.
