Zinck, Blaine Richard

In loving memory of Blaine Zinck 78 years young of Sudbury, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Health Sciences North after a long battle with Parkinsons.

Husband to Nancy of Sudbury for 57+ years.  Loving father of Annette St-Jean (spouse Dan) and Rick Zinck (spouse Laura).  Proud Grandad to Renée St-Jean (spouse Russell Rautiainen), Stephanie St-Jean, Colin Zinck, and Chloe Zinck.  Great-Grandad to Beau Rautiainen.

He was the eldest son of Arnold and Florence Zinck both predeceased.  Dear brother to Elizabeth (Beth) Kennedy predeceased, Sandra Sherman (spouse Bill) of Windsor, NS, John Zinck (spouse Kate predeceased) of Windsor, NS, Kathy Lawrence (spouse Tony) of Falmouth, NS, Steven predeceased (spouse Debbie) of Hantsport, NS and Cheryl Davison (spouse Paul) of Hantsport, NS.  Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

He came to Sudbury in 1968 where he was hired to work at INCO in the Copper Cliff Smelter where his co-workers knew him as “Rick”.  He retired in 1999 after 31½ years.  He was known to many as “The Man in Black” as he dressed in black everyday.  Many may not know his name, but you probably drove by him on Paris St. or walked pass him on the boardwalk on Lake Ramsey or in and around downtown Sudbury.  He always said he did his best thinking while out for his daily walks.  He loved to travel across Canada by train with his wife Nancy, his favorite travel companion. He was a proud Nova Scotian and made sure his children saw every end of his home province.  He was known for his kindness and his big heart.  There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family, especially his grandchildren.  He created many lasting memories with them like times in the swimming pool, building snow hills to slide on, climbing on the rocks, reading them stories, shoulder rides, taking them to the movies, or trips to the playground.  He may be gone but will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 where friends may gather from 12-4pm.
