Eastbound 401 express temporarily closed after fatal accident near 400

TORONTO — Police say they had to close the eastbound express lanes of Highway 401 near Highway 400 this morning following a fatality.

Ontario Provincial Police say a 78-year-old woman from Mississauga, Ont., was killed in the crash.

Police say the three-vehicle collision involved a transport truck and two passenger vehicles.

Another driver was hospitalized with minor injuries and the third remained on the scene with no injuries.

Investigators are on the scene reconstructing the accident.

Police say the crash occurred at 5 a.m. and they're asking any witnesses or drivers with dash-cam footage to contact them.
