Hamilton officer charged after unauthorized access of police databases

Hamilton police say one of their officers has been arrested on breach of trust charges and unauthorized use of a computer.

Myles Micallef, a six-year member of the force, was arrested on Monday in the Niagara Region.

Police say he was charged with seven counts of breach of trust and nine counts of unauthorized use of a computer.

Investigators allege all charges relate to the unauthorized use of police databases.

Police say Micallef has been suspended with pay as per the legislative requirements of the Police Service Act of Ontario.

He's scheduled to appear in a Hamilton court on Dec. 8.
