Long-term care home employee charged after investigation at Brampton facility

BRAMPTON, Ont. — An employee at a Brampton, Ont., long-term care home is facing charges after police say they received complaints regarding the treatment of nearly a dozen residents.

Peel Regional Police say they received reports earlier this month that medication was not being administered to patients as prescribed.

They say their investigation found that 11 residents of varying cognitive abilities were affected.

Police say all of the victims have since been examined by doctors and their relatives or power of attorney have been notified.

The accused, 59-year-old Angeline Richardson-Mckenzie, was charged Friday with 11 counts of failing to provide the necessaries of life.

Police say she no longer works at the long-term care home.
