OPP investigating mysterious pet incidents in eastern Ontario

MALLORYTOWN, ONT — Police in eastern Ontario are investigating two recent incidents involving pets, one of them falling mysteriously ill.

But Leeds County provincial police say there’s no indication the incidents are connected.

Police say a pet owner in Front of Yonge Township claimed on Jan. 7 their dog found meatballs on the road that contained a white powder.

Two days later, police say a puppy in the Mallorytown, Ont., area became ill and was taken to the vet, though it’s unknown how or when it ingested harmful material.

Police say they’re aware the incidents are being discussed extensively online.

Investigators say anyone with information should contact them.
