Police charge 73-year-old supply teacher with sexual assault in Sault Ste. Marie

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Police say they have charged a 73-year-old supply teacher in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., after an alleged sexual assault.

Investigators say the accused was working as a supply teacher at Notre Dame du Sault school on Feb. 12.

They say he allegedly sexually assaulted a student under the age of 16.

The school is part of the Nouvelon Catholic School Board.

Police say he was arrested on Wednesday and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on May 10.
