Police say Quebec man in his 50s dead after being attacked by bull on his farm

MONTREAL — A man in his 50s is dead after being attacked by an angry bull at his farm in Quebec.

Provincial police Sgt. Claude Doiron says a neighbour passed by and saw the lifeless man next to the bull's enclosure Tuesday evening in Mont-Carmel, about 165 kilometres northeast of Quebec City.

First responders were called and tried to revive the man, but he died of his injuries.

Doiron says the bull was aggressive and was killed by a member of the public at the request of police.

He says the victim was the owner of the farm and lived there alone.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and the coroner will also conduct its own probe.

Doiron offered his condolences to the victim's family.

"It's an event that's rare, that's dramatic and sad for the family and loved ones, with whom we sympathize," he said.
