Man charged with murder, attempted murder in fatal house fire in Brampton, Ont.

BRAMPTON, Ont. — A 33-year-old man has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted murder after an early-morning house fire in Brampton, Ont. 

Peel police say a woman -- believed to be 61 years old -- was found dead in the burnt-out home on Friday. 

They say five other people made it out of the residence. 

A 34-year-old woman was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, while a 71-year-old man and three children -- aged 11, nine and four -- were unharmed. 

Police say the accused was arrested at another Brampton home. 

They say he knew all of the residents of the home, but did not offer details on the nature of their relationship.
