MONTREAL — A Quebec provincial police officer is facing multiple charges, including sexual assault, possession of child pornography and having sexual contact with a minor under 16 years old.

Quebec provincial police say members of its internal investigations service arrested 57-year-old Pierre Boies on Tuesday.

Boies appeared in court today in St-Hyacinthe, Que., where he was formally charged.

Police say in a news release that the alleged offences took place between June 2019 and Oct. 29, 2020.

They allege Boies contacted his victim -- and other adolescents -- on social media using his real identity.

Police say this is the second time Boies has been arrested by the internal investigations service, and he has been suspended since the investigation began in December 2019.
