Rain over southern Ontario may turn to snow by Christmas: Environment Canada

TORONTO — A few days of rain might be followed by snow on Christmas Day in much of southern Ontario.

Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for much of the region.

Heavy rain is forecast to begin Wednesday night across the Greater Toronto Area, as a low-pressure system moves north.

Rain is expected to hit southeastern Ontario on Thursday, potentially turning to snow flurries on Friday.

The weather agency says it's uncertain about the exact time rain may change to snow and how much snow may fall.

Motorists in the Toronto area are warned to watch for potentially dangerous winter road conditions on Thursday and Friday.
