Teen charged with attempted murder in stabbing of 79-year-old woman

OAKVILLE, Ont. — Police west of Toronto say a 15-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly attacking a 79-year-old woman.

Officers say the incident happened in Oakville, Ont., Wednesday morning and left the woman with stab wounds that were not life-threatening.  

Police say the suspect fled the scene, and officers arrested him on a bus in Durham Region some time later.

He has also been charged with break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Police say the victim is still being treated in hospital, where she is in stable condition.

They say the boy and the woman knew each other, but didn't provide further details.
