Toronto Catholic District School Board school staff member dies of COVID-19

TORONTO — An education worker in the Toronto Catholic District School Board has died from COVID-19.

Brendan Browne, director of education for the school board, offered his "heartfelt condolences" to the staff member's family and school community in a tweet Wednesday afternoon. 

A union representing educational workers in the province also offered its condolences.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees says it was "deeply saddened" to learn of the child and youth worker's death.

Ontario reported 109 new COVID-19 cases related to schools today, including at least 92 among students. 

Those bring the number of schools with a reported case to 670 out of Ontario's 4,828 publicly funded schools.
