Toronto police charge second teen boy in shooting of 14-year-old girl

Toronto police say a second teenage boy has been arrested in the shooting of a 14-year-old girl.

They say the boy surrendered to police on Monday and is facing eight charges related to the incident on Feb. 12.

A 17-year-old boy was charged on Thursday for his role in the shooting.

Police allege that a group of young people were together inside an apartment when a gun went off and the girl was struck in the head.

They say the suspects and others fled the apartment, and the girl was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Police say she is now stable but has life-altering injuries and remains in hospital.

The accused can't be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
