Toronto police lay multiple murder charges in separate shooting investigations

Toronto police say they've laid multiple murder charges against a 19-year-old man in connection with shootings that happened in 2018 and 2019.

Jattori Williams is facing two charges of first-degree murder, one charge of second-degree murder and one charge of attempted murder.

In the first incident, police responded to a shooting at a residence in September 2018, where they found a 19-year-old man who died of a gunshot wound.

Investigators say the second incident happened in the city's north-end in October 2019.

They say gunmen first started firing at multiple homes in the area before shooting a teenage boy, who managed to escape and survive.

Later that night, police say the same gunmen shot and killed two men in a courtyard nearby.

Investigators say they arrested and charged Williams in connection with both incidents on Wednesday.

They say another suspect in the October incident, 20-year-old Jeziah Blair-Taylor, was charged last year.

Blair-Taylor is also facing two charges of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in the shootings.

He first appeared in court in October 2019, while Williams appeared in court on Thursday.
