Watchdog investigating after man dies following interaction with police

VAUGHAN, Ont. — Ontario's police watchdog is investigating after a man died after an "interaction" with police in Vaughan, north of Toronto.

The Special Investigations Unit says York Regional Police were called to a home around 11 p.m. Monday night over a domestic incident.

The SIU says the first officer had an interaction with a man.

It says other officers then arrived and helped make an arrest.

The agency says the man's vital signs were absent at that time and he was pronounced dead when paramedics arrived.

Police say an officer was slightly injured and taken to hospital.
