A nine-day-old boy has been identified as one of two victims of the fatal Highway 17 crash near Nairn Centre on March 10, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

A nine-day-old boy has been identified as one of two victims of the fatal Highway 17 crash near Nairn Centre on March 10, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

Trystan Brule, nine days old, from Webbwood, died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

The second victim has been identified as Christopher Brule, 32, also from Webbwood. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ashley-Carole Richer, who was travelling in the same pickup truck as Trystan and Christopher, remains in hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 10-ton truck, has been identified as Claude Laforest, 62, from Sudbury. He was taken to hospital and treated, and has since been released.

On March 10, at about 3:45 p.m., members from the Espanola/Sudbury Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Nairn-Hyman Fire Department and the Greater Sudbury Fire Department as well as the Sudbury-Manitoulin District Emergency Medical Se rvices (EMS), responded to the two-vehicle collision. 

The collision remains under investigation and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
