An Atikameksheng First Nation man is facing impaired charges.

On June 14, Atikameksheng First Nation Police were on patrol just after 9 p.m. on Reserve Road in Atikameksheng when they stopped to check on a parked vehicle.

After speaking with the driver, police determined the man had been drinking, and he was arrested.

A 34-year-old resident of Atikameksheng First Nation now faces one charge of impaired operation and one charge of impaired operation with a blood alcohol concentration higher than 80 mg.

The man was released by way of an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 5 in Sudbury.

He was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

This charge marks the 30th driver charged under Criminal Impaired Driving Laws in the OPP’s Nipissing West Detachment area in 2020.
