The death of a 36-year-old man whose body was found in Bell Park last summer is now being investigated as a homicide.
In an April 15 news release, Greater Sudbury Police said Pat Forgues’ body was found by paramedic services in the early morning of July 31, 2024 near the park’s large gazebo, northeast of the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre.
Based on the results of the postmortem and ancillary tests conducted through the Coroner’s Office, police said it has been determined the injuries sustained by Forgues cannot be explained, therefore his death is being investigated as a homicide, said Greater Sudbury Police.
Through the postmortem, it was confirmed that he suffered significant internal injuries that were not self-inflicted.
Detectives in the Major Crime Section of the Greater Sudbury Police Criminal Investigation Division continue to work in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office to investigate this suspicious death.
Anyone with information related to this incident or who had dealings with Forgues (image attached) leading up to July 31, 2024 is asked to contact Detective Sergeant MacKay at 705-675-9171, ext. 6371 or Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477.

An obituary for Pat (or Patrice) Forgues said he would be “remembered as a gentle soul that had a heart of gold” and that “he would give his shirt off his back to help anyone he could.”
“Heaven gained another angel way too soon, your fight is over!” the obituary continued. "You will be terribly missed by everyone who knew you. Swim with the fish and fly with the birds. You’re ‘free now.’”
The obituary said there would be a celebration of life at the family plot in Casselman, Ont. and a local celebration for close family and friends. The family requested memorial donations to Mama Nat and Kaylee’s Outreach.
“They helped my brother in so many ways and many other community members,” said the obituary.
