Police say they will not be releasing his name

Greater Sudbury Police continue to investigate the area near Lily Creek after the body of a 19-year-old Sudbury man was found yesterday.

The office of the chief coroner in Sudbury has completed their post-mortem but are not sharing the details with the public at this time.

"We will only share the information with the family and the police," said Dave Cameron, office of the chief coroner. "It's at the police's discretion whether or not they disclose anything further."

Greater Sudbury Police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn says that there is nothing new to share with the public with respect to this incident.

"Police are still doing a ground search of the area," said Dunn. "The name of the individual is not being released." 

Dunn says that the police will provide updates if there is any concern to public safety in relation to this matter.

The body pulled from the waters of Lily Creek by Greater Sudbury Police officers yesterday has been identified, but police will not be releasing his name.

The remains belonged to a 19-year-old from Greater Sudbury.

Police continue to scour the area around Lily Creek, off Beverly Drive, for evidence.

Cause of death remains unknown, police said.

Greater Sudbury Police Services, Fire and EMS were called to the scene yesterday afternoon. The GSPS Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.

A post-mortem will be done by the Coroner's Office.

"Anyone with information about the individual or the incident is asked to please contact Greater Sudbury Police or Crime Stoppers," said GSPS spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn.
