A Sudbury bookkeeper who passed out in the middle of her sentencing hearing one month ago will return to court Thursday to await her fate.

Rita Collalti, 53, was not in court last Friday or again Tuesday after it was reported she had booked herself into hospital because of physical problems.

It?s expected Collalti will be in court Thursday afternoon to complete the sentencing hearing.

Justice Louise Gauthier has ordered Collalti?s lawyer James Longstreet to produce a document to detail Collalti?s medical reasons for not making scheduled court appearances twice in the last week.

Collalti was found guilty following a trial in January of stealing $120,000 between April of 2000 and August of 2001 from the owner of a siding company she worked for.

Collalti collapsed in the courtroom and was brought to hospital in late May shortly after assistant Crown attorney Philip Zylberberg announced he would be seeking an 18-month jail sentence.

Longstreet has asked the court to impose a conditional sentence or a brief period of incarceration, along with a restitution order and probation.
