Greater Sudbury Police have arrested two males for attempted murder, the force announced late Friday afternoon.

In order to protect "the integrity of this complex investigation," police are releasing little information, the release said.

"Police will update the public as the investigation unfolds. Anyone with information in this matter are asked to call police."

Greater Sudbury Police apprehended one man following a lengthy stalemate at a Bruce Avenue home Friday afternoon.

Using a key, the GSPS tactical unit open the front door of the home and yelled for the man to come out with his hands up or they would release the K-9 unit. A short time later a male exited the home with his hands up and was handcuffed by police.

The arrest was made in connection to a shooting this morning in Wahnapitae.

Original story:

Greater Sudbury Police said they have reason to believe a suspect or suspects involved in the Wahnapitae shooting Friday morning could be hiding in a residence on Bruce Avenue in the Flour Mill.

“We're following up on information that suggests that a person of interest that's involved in the shooting may associated to one of those residences,” said Greater Sudbury Police Staff Sgt. Marc Brunette.

Sudbury.com's Heather Green-Oliver captured images of the Greater Sudbury Police Service tactical unit outside a townhouse on Bruce Avenue, in full tactical gear, asking to be let inside the building.

When no one answered, Green-Oliver said police fell back to a safer position, away from the front door.
