Greater Sudbury Police are seeking the public's assistance to identify a dirt bike rider who illegally used the vehicle on city roads.

Police spotted the dirt bike at around 1:40 p.m. on May 23, on Main Street in Val Caron. Dirt bikes are not permitted to be on the highway, police said.

The rider was travelling at a high rate of speed, and failed to stop for police.

Police identified him as a male with a red t-shirt and beige pants. He was wearing a black helmet and goggles with a red band. He also had a backpack.

The dirt bike had the marking "B16" in red on the side.
