It's been more than a month since the crash, but officers with the Warren detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have laid charges in a crash that killed two motorcyclists.

On June 7, officers responded to a collision on Highway 17 in Markstay-Warren, involving two passenger vehicles and one motorcycle.

Police say the investigation revealed an eastbound car had crossed the centre striking a westbound sports utility vehicle (SUV), which careened across the westbound lane and struck a westbound motorcycle head-on.

The driver and passenger on the bike were both pronounced dead at the scene.

On July 23, OPP announced they had charged John Hemmingway, 59, of North Bay with careless driving of a motor vehicle contrary. He will answer to the charges in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on July 28.
